“I had a bunch of unrelated but important funeral home marketing problems. John helped us create an overall plan and then worked with us through the implementation. He was terrific at sorting through the confusion, addressing the real problems, and crafting excellent solutions that work. Our sales are up as a direct result of John's work!”

David Shipper, Indiana Memorial Group, Evansville IN

“We saw John Callaghan at a captivating seminar in Florida and approached him after his presentation. He was very receptive and almost immediately accepted to come see us in Montreal for funeral home consulting services that we requested.

In two days, he managed to help us with all of our concerns, and kept us focused on the matter at hand. What impressed us most were his communication skills, both in written language and verbal. John has a way with words and manages to convey a message in the most convincing and eloquent way.

Full Disclosure: Working with me is not for everyone.
If you are looking to sell your business in the next year, we’re not a good fit.

The marketing strategies we are going to develop and implement will take time to bear fruit. Sometimes there is a quick jump, but typically you will see a small increase in year one and a bigger bump in years two and three.

If you are looking to sell in the next year, you will not have received the full benefit of our time together, and you will probably sell for less than you are worth.

If you are a good manager, we might be a good fit.

To be quite transparent…. I hate managing people. Don’t get me wrong, I’m good at it, but I just don’t enjoy it. Plus, I’ve reached a point in my career where I don’t have to do things I don’t want to do.

I am a strategic thinker. My most successful clients have been good managers who do a great job managing their team and implementing our strategies. If that’s not you, then you need to have a strong team manager who can manage the implementation for us.

We create the strategy + you manage the implementation = your business grows. That’s the formula.

If you want to participate in the growth process, we might be a good fit.

My approach to developing a growth strategy is a collaborative process. There is a reason you are already successful. My job is to uncover that reason, package it properly, and use innovative marketing strategies to bring more families to your door. But I cannot do it alone!

If you have invested money in marketing with no ROI, we might be a good fit.

All of my successful clients have been around the block a few times. They’ve made the rounds at NFDA and ICCFA, met marketing vendors, tried out a few, and have nothing to show for it except a nice logo and some TV commercials.

Here’s a dirty little marketing secret…the strategies XYZ Marketing advocates are great for billion-dollar corporations with massive budgets, but they are completely wrong for the typical funeral home or cemetery.

I apply strategies that are appropriate for your size of business and generate bottom-line results.

If you are looking for someone with a magic wand, we might be a good fit.

True story…one of my clients relayed how his wife referred to me as “the wizard”. She didn’t know what we did together, but I waved my magic wand and all of a sudden, the funeral home was VERY busy.

As much as I’d like it…I’m not a wizard, although I am a big Lord of the Rings fan and Gandolf is THE MAN.

The reality is that I have spent the last 25 years immersed in the constantly changing world of marketing. Most funeral home or cemetery owners dabble in marketing when time permits, I study this stuff constantly (as my wife will attest to).

But I don’t just study funeral home marketing; I study all styles of marketing and most importantly, consumer preferences. Borrowing proven concepts from other industries and applying them to your funeral business, that's when the magic happens.

If you are looking for a strategic partner willing to put skin in the game, we might be a good fit.

More transparency…I’m expensive. I have had many clients tell me that they’ve never paid my kind of consulting fees.

But I’m also willing to “put my money where my mouth is”.

If we have spent some time working together and it seems like a good fit, I am open to trading part of my monthly retainer for a piece of the future revenues. Try calling XYZ Marketing and ask if they will make the same deal...
